Dancehall icon Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price is set to be honored with the Generational Impact: Guardian of the Culture Award, recognizing his lasting influence on music, community development, and cultural advocacy. The award celebrates individuals whose work helps preserve cultural traditions while inspiring future generations.

Organizers say the recognition highlights Bounty Killer’s decades-long contribution to dancehall and his commitment to uplifting communities. According to event organizer Dwight Hermit, the veteran deejay represents the voice and spirit of the people, noting that his music and actions consistently reflect a dedication to supporting those in need.

The honor will be presented during the Uplift the Community Benefit Concert, scheduled for March 29 in Kingston’s Seaview Gardens community. The event is part of the Seaview Gardens Community Assistance Project and will include a free Community Day and Health Fair, followed by a benefit concert aimed at supporting youth programs and other local initiatives.

Sherone White, founder of the organization Let Us S.O.A.R., which is leading the initiative, described the moment as a celebration of Bounty Killer’s legacy. She explained that the artist has spent years championing culture, mentoring emerging talent, and advocating for the well-being of communities across Jamaica.

As part of the tribute, organizers will also launch the Bounty Killer Generational Impact Scholarship in his honor. The scholarship will provide support each year to two graduating students from Seaview Gardens Primary School—one boy and one girl—as they begin high school.

The initiative reflects Bounty Killer’s long-standing dedication to empowering young people through education and community engagement. Beyond his achievements in music, the dancehall legend has built a reputation as a cultural leader and advocate who has used his platform to address social issues and encourage positive change.
