Reggae artist Buju Banton has taken legal steps against fellow entertainer Wayne Wonder and his wife, demanding that they withdraw certain statements and issue a public apology. The request follows comments that Banton’s team says are false and damaging to his reputation.

According to reports, Wayne Wonder and his wife were formally notified last Friday and given a limited timeframe—ending Wednesday—to remove the remarks and respond. The issue stems from a dispute that recently gained attention online, reportedly tied to disagreements over songwriting credits for the track “Murder.”

The controversy intensified after an audio recording circulated on social media, allegedly featuring Wayne Wonder’s wife making serious claims about Banton. The clip was later shared by an entertainment outlet, further amplifying the situation.

In response, Banton’s legal and management representatives issued a statement firmly rejecting the allegations, describing them as baseless and harmful. They emphasized that the claims suggest involvement in serious wrongdoing but have no factual support.

The statement also confirmed that a legal notice has been delivered, requiring the immediate removal of the content along with a clear and public retraction. Banton’s team added that they are closely monitoring the spread of the statements online and are prepared to take further legal action if necessary.

They stressed that Banton’s long-standing international career and influence in music make the allegations particularly damaging, and that the matter will be pursued with urgency. Attorney Rita Allen-Brown is representing the artist in the case.
