Two Teenage Boys Shot in Westmoreland by Gunmen
Tragedy struck in the parish of Westmoreland on Sunday, June 24, when two teenagers were shot by gunmen in a brazen daytime shooting.
Reports are that a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old male were shot at approximately 3:30 pm while they travelled along a roadway in Grange Hill in the parish.
The 18-year-old was shot and killed, while the 17-year-old was shot and injured in the attack by the unknown assailants.
The deceased has been identified as Akeem Samuels, who is a resident of Riverside district, Kingsvale, Hanover.
After the shooting subsided, the police were notified by residents of the community. Upon their arrival, the two boys were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital where Samuels was confirmed dead, while his friend was admitted in serious condition.
The murder rate in Westmoreland is now on a rise, with this latest shooting taking the tally to over the 70 deaths since the start of the year.
The police in Westmoreland is currently investigating to determine the identities of the criminals involved and their motives.
