Mavado’s 17-y-o Son Transferred to Juvenile Center, Other Relatives Released

Mavado’s 17-year-old son was transferred to the Metcalfe Street Secure Juvenile Remand Center, while the other detained family members were released by the police.

The cousin of Mavado, popularly known as Chase Cross was charged with assault on Anthony Goulbourne, the man who allegedly fired shots at the artiste.

The dancehall artiste who was set to perform in the USA on Sunday, June 10th is yet to return to the island. The police had requested that Mavado report to them for questioning regarding the flare-up of violence in the Cassava Piece community.

His attorney ‘Tamika Harris’ told reporters that he had some contractual commitments outside the island and is making arrangements to return while keeping a constant dialogue with the police.

Though every one of Mavado’s relatives was released on the weekend, his son remains in custody, the Major Investigative Task Force wants to question him further.

The artiste was already out of the country when the gruesome murder of a man in the Cassava Piece community took place last Tuesday morning as the violence climbed in the area.

The young man murdered was identified as Lorenza Thomas, alias ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’, a 23-yr-old of Cassava Piece Road, who was suspected to be connected to the incident involving Mavado and his son.

According to the police reports, the 23-yr-old was at his home in Cassava Piece when gunmen kicked in his door, they shot and then chopped Lorenza to death… after which they set his body ablaze.
