Man killed in King Street, Nurse Hospitalized
The man who was shot dead along King Street on Monday has been identified.
He is Jermaine Rutherford, a 41-year-old labourer of Tower Street, Kingston.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m., Rutherford was sitting on the sidewalk, when a lone gunman walked up and opened fire hitting him.
A nurse, who was passing by, was shot and injured. Sources claim the nurse, who has since been admitted in the hospital, is originally from Cuba.
An alleged eyewitness said the sound of explosions sent persons in the area scampering for cover.
“We were standing on the roadside when we heard the loud explosions and see people a run,” said the alleged eyewitness.
The police reported that the gunman fled from the scene after the shooting.
The police were called and during a search of the area, the body of a man was found with gunshot wounds.
The female was also found to have been shot during the attack.
