Man Dead after His Car Exploded During Motor Vehicle Accident
A man died in a fiery motor vehicle crash along the Content main road in Manchester on Christmas Day.
The deceased has been identified as Dwayne Patterson.
The police said they are still trying to ascertain the age and address of the victim.
Reports are that at about 2:30 p.m., the man was driving his Honda Civic motorcar when he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a building and minutes later, burst into flames.
The police reported that the driver was burnt to death inside the vehicle.
The death comes just days after the Road Safety Unit (RSU) in the Ministry of Transport and Mining issued a call for motorists to exercise greater caution when traveling on the roads.
Director of the RSU, Kenute Hare, said as the Christmas season approached, persons, particularly motorists and pedestrians, should exercise greater care on the roads.
Statistics from the RSU also highlighted that male deaths continue to outnumber female deaths by a very significant number. Of the 360 deaths, 311 were males and 49 females.
