The mother of Rankins children expressed in a recent post that the entertainer’s life insurance was still tied up due to an ongoing investigation. Hence, she had no alternative but to create a campaign on the crowdfunded platform to get help from those who were willing. She also explained that even though she had two jobs, money was still tight, due to mortgage and other miscellaneous expenses.

According to Rankin’s partner, they both had savings, but decided to invest it in the deejay’s unreleased album before his untimely death, which she expressed “wasn’t cheap”.

Since the Gofundme campaign went public, it has gathered over $11,000 in donations from various users, with an anonymous user generously donating a whopping $10,000 towards the cause. However, some of Shotta’s actor’s fans were upset that the family decided to ask for help, given the fact that the entertainer not only appeared in several movies and had a very profitable musical career, but also had very high powered friends including DJ Khalid, Nas, DMX just to name a few.

Viral entertainer Foota Hype took to his Instagram platform to voice his disgust at the actions of Rankin’s partner, who he claimed decided to create the campaign for her own benefits which belittled the icon’s legacy.
