Police officers shot and killed four men yesterday afternoon in the community of Old Braeton in Portmore, St Catherine.
Reports circulating are that the police officers involved were acting on information that a group of armed men were in the area. On arrival, it is alleged that the officers exchanged gunfire with the suspects.
It is understood that after the gunfire subsided, investigations revealed three illegal weapons which were taken from the deceased.
The Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU) has since confirmed that there were, in fact, casualties during the operation but the victim’s names were not disclosed.
INDECOM is currently investigating.
