Five Shot, One Dead, in Westmoreland after Gunmen Opened Fire on a Group
A man is dead and four other persons injured after a lone gunman opened fire on a group of people gathered along a section of the busy Great Georges Street in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland on Monday.
Dead is 56-year-old taxi operator, Anthony Tomlinson, otherwise called ‘Fowler’, of Burnt Savanna district, Westmoreland.
Reports from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are that about 5:05 pm, an armed man allegedly opened gunfire into a crowd that was on the roadway.
When the shooting subsided, five persons including a six-year-old boy, were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police were summoned and the injured persons taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital where Tomlinson was pronounced dead and the child and one of the men admitted in stable condition.
The other two injured persons were treated and released.
The Savanna-la-Mar police are investigating.
