81-y-o Man Ran Over by Motor Car in St Ann, Driver Facing Charges

A driver is now facing criminal charges after mowing down an elderly man while he was crossing the road in St Ann on Tuesday, June 3.

The deceased has been identified as an 81-year-old farmer, Bentley White, of Linton Park, Brown’s Town in the parish.

According to news reports, White was crossing the road at the Norman Washington Drive intersection at around 9:20 am when he was hit by a motor car.

The driver of the motor car was detained, questioned but later released. However, he has been warned that he could face charges related to motor vehicle manslaughter.

The elderly man was taken to the hospital by the same car that ran him over, but he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The police investigations have determined that the driver of the motor car was speeding at the time of the accident.

The police are still conducting their investigations into the incident.
