Three Shot Dead in Thompson Pen, St Catherine
The killing of three men in the volatile Thompson Pen community near Spanish Town, St Catherine Sunday night, is believed to have been a reprisal for the shooting of a man earlier on Sunday, along Burke Road in the heart of the Old capital.
One of the three has been identified as 28-year-old Andre Cephas, otherwise called ‘Specs’ of a St Catherine address. The other two men remain unidentified.
According to the police, shortly after 8:00 pm Sunday, the three men were at a bar in Thompson Pen when they were approached and shot by a lone gunman. A 10-year-old boy was also shot and injured in the incident. All four were taken to hospital where the three men were pronounced dead and the 10 year-old boy admitted.
Earlier Sunday, shots rang out along the busy Burke Road in the heart of Spanish Town near the police station. When the dust cleared, an unidentified man was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital but his condition is unknown.
The St Catherine North police division is the bloodiest in the entire country with at least 30 murders since the start of the year.
