Golden Krust Boss Allegedly Killed Himself over Huge Tax Debt

Lowell Hawthorne, a New York-based Jamaican businessman, is said to have committed suicide over a tax debt valued at millions of dollars.

57 year old Hawthrone, who is the owner of Golden Krust, shot himself in the head, as revealed by surveillance video recorded from his office.

According to family members, he was acting strange just moments before his death, pacing and talking to himself. It was also revealed by members of his family that he admitted to be in debt and is reported to have even owed workers for unpaid overtime wages.

In his suicide note, Hawthrone reportedly apologized to his family for his actions, before turning the gun to his head and pulling the trigger.

The Golden Krust boss rose to success after migrating to the United States and created his Caribbean fast food business, which caught major success and expanded into a 120 restaurant chain.
