Dancehall Artiste Unicorn Murdered in Kingston
The dancehall fraternity has been plunged into mourning with the passing of recording artiste Donovan McMurray, more popularly known by his stage name Unicorn.
McMurray was gunned down in Kingston on Sunday afternoon.
Reports are that at around 3:30 pm, explosions were heard in the Bowens Road area. A police patrol team was alerted and responded.
On their arrival, the police found McMurray lying along the roadway in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to the head. A grey Toyota Rav4 was reportedly seen in the middle of the road with the left front door and the trunk opened.
McMurray was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.
His mother is distraught over the loss of her son.
“If mi never serve God, I don’t know how me woulda work it out right now, halleleujah! Ah mi good good pickney, and the person who do it have a big day in court with God,” Sister Daley, Unicorn’s mother explained.
The artiste is known for songs like ‘Think Bout Mi’ featuring Macka Diamond, and has written several hit songs for other artistes.
A number of entertainment industry insiders have issued tributes to the late entertainer since news broke of his untimely passing.
Macka Diamond, who shared his biggest hit, said: “Sleep in peace Unicorn… can’t believe it a swear.”
